Britney's Wedding Gown Process

Throughout this blog we will be discussing in detail the process of having a flat sketch come to life, sharing with you what happens from your first consultation to your final reveal and pick up of your wedding gown masterpiece.

Britney’s confidence in Vincenzo ensured that he had complete styling control over her wedding gown. Britney knew that Vincenzo Pintaudi Couture will be able to create her dream wedding gown impeccably.

Consultation

On Britney’s first consultation we spoke about her vision, inspiration, theme of the wedding and the budget for the wedding gown. Using all of the information Britney provided Vincenzo with, he was then able to design her wedding gown according to her theme and inspiration.

The key inspiration for Britney’s wedding gown was inspired by Kim Kardashian’s 2018 Met Gala liquid gold dress, made by Versace.

Kim Kardashian was Britney’s inspiration, however it wasn’t only her fashion that was the inspiration, it was her silhouette - a cinched waist with a hourglass figure.

As Britney already has a hour glass figure, it was a matter of the magic that the corset could do, that would mould and create a more dramatic silhouette of Britney’s waist being cinched in. A strong and sturdy corset that is made at Vincenzo Pintaudi Couture.

Vincenzo then gathered the inspiration to design and sketch his very own version of Britney’s inspiration to create her dream wedding gown.

Design Approval and Fabric Selection

The approval and final design of Vincenzo’s illustration for Britney’s wedding gown was created which included refined detailing of the gown such as the embellishments and drapery.

At Britneys one-on-one consultation her sketch, fabric, embellishments and trims are discussed and the final selection of fabric’s are made. Britney completely believed Vincenzo’s professional opinion amongst the luxurious silk fabrics he had chosen including the ‘soft finish CDC - in the colour white’ and the ‘silk georgette - also in the colour white’.

Vincenzo’s vision of Britney’s wedding gown was tiled swarovski crystals beaded across the bodice of the corset.

The tiled swarovski crystals were designed to replicate the corsetry that Vincenzo Pintaudi Couture is known for. A specialty that the VPC machinists have learnt to perfect for any silhouette.

At VPC sheer and solid corsets are created, the sheer corsets show the boning in the corsetry for extra detailing. With Britney’s wedding gown, Vincenzo designed the tiled swarovski crystal detailing to follow the lines/boning of the corset that is beneath the layer of silk georgette and soft finish cdc silk. This accentuates the hourglass shape creating a flattering feminine and sexy finish.

Master Block Fitting

A master block was created with Britney’s measurements. This fitting is with a simple fitted silhouette that was made from a basic pattern which was made up in calico. In the first fitting Vincenzo added design lines onto the calico while Britney wore the dress to create seams in proportion to compliment her figure.

A Complete Calico Fitting

VPC’s pattern maker added all the design lines onto Britney’s master block, which was then sewn by the machinists to create a calico fit that included all the design lines, shaping, split, bodice, straps and train length. This is to ensure the fit is immaculate and the fabric is contouring the body making sure it all comes together correctly with every seam and line to match to precision. Adjustments are made to fit and designs changed if necessary are then pinned and noted to be changed for the next fitting.

Construction Process

The construction process showing delicate detailing, hours of machining and hand sewing to perfect Britney’s wedding gown. Our team at VPC are compassionate about bridal and know that you deserve a perfect gown for your wedding day.

First Fabric Fitting

In this appointment Britney was trying on her wedding gown with the chosen fabric for the first time. A priceless reaction and in complete shock of the strength of the corset that VPC was able to achieve the dramatic hourglass silhouette.

Any adjustments that were necessary are noted and changed for her next fitting.

Final Fabric Fitting

Approval and confirmation were made on the fit of the gown.
Hand stitched beading lines were added as a guideline to show where the swarovski crystals were going to be placed.

Hand Sewing Detailing

Swarovski tiled crystals applied by our amazing beaded hand-sewer at VPC with a gorgeous ‘touch of blue’ cross stitch design.

Final Fitting / Pick Up

Today was the day Britney was able to pick up her wedding gown. The final completed look, and the excitement to finally be able to take home her gown. This also meant that there wasn’t long until she was able to call her fiancé her husband.
